Lady Amelia Caversham is the daughter of a duke and has dreamed of marrying a duke since she was a young girl. There are three dukes available this season and not one of them is interested in marrying. Lady Amelia is faced with the dilemma of finding a man on her own or paying a visit to Lady Sophia Dalby, a former courtesan who is now a matchmaker.
Lord Cranleigh refuses to take part in the interviewing process Lady Dalby has set up for finding Lady Caversham a husband. He is more concerned with saving his brother from being on the list of potential husbands. Lord Cranleigh is in trouble because Lady Sophia has her sites set on him and she is determined to win.
A lady paying a visit to Lady Sophia can cause quite a scandal and Lady Amelia does not want that to happen. Lady Sophia created a successful match for Amelia's friend Louisa, and her husband, Blakes, which is all Amelia wishes for... a happy marriage to a duke. With so few dukes to choose from, Amelia turns to Lady Sophia for help. The process for finding a husband may not be exactly what Amelia expects, but she learns Lady Sophia is successful for a reason.
Lady Sophia is my kind of lady. She is a no-nonsense kind of woman who is not afraid of scandal. Her attitude made me laugh quite often throughout this book. Lady Amelia made me smile. She wants to be such a proper lady, but the fire in her soul comes through. The men in this story are the perfect embodiment of most men, reluctant to marry and wanting to have fun. The romance and seduction make for a well-rounded story. This is the third in the Courtesan series by Ms. Dain.
