Jennet Greenway is finally getting married to the love of her life. On her way to the cabin where she and her soon-to-be husband will be spending their honeymoon, she sees a car off the road, partway hidden by the fog.

As sheriff deputy of a small town in Michigan, it is Crane Ferguson’s duty to uphold the law and keep everyone safe. While he is away for a seminar, he gets notice that his fiancée, Jennet has lost her collie, Halley.

After helping the strange woman who was on the side of the road, Jennet walked Halley around so she could do her business, when suddenly she tripped on a rock and fell. Waking up, she found herself to be bruised and scraped but worse, her dog was missing and so was the woman she helped. Trying to find her beloved pet, Jennet begins her search for the woman only to find she has been killed and there is still no sign of her dog. With time running out, Jennet continues her search and finds herself face to face with a twisted girl and a murderer who is willing to eliminate anyone who gets in his way.

The Collie Connection has some ups and downs, making me confused in parts of the tale. Ms. Bodoin has shown that some components of her work are great and had me on the edge of my seat. However, there are other parts of the story that could not be understood without reading the previous books in this series. I thought using her love for dogs in the story was a great addition to a cute mystery. Though it’s not a book I would want to read a second time, I will state that it is a fun and flirty read for those who like to read a good mystery story with some interesting characters and unique elements.
