Zoe Jones is the wildest woman in Grand River, Ohio and has no plans to slow down. She runs an art gallery and is active in the life of her goddaughter, Riley and her late college roommate’s husband, Martin. She has been in love with him for years, but would never encroach on his grief.
Martin O’Neil has been a widower for a few years now and no one is aware that his marriage was not as successful as everyone thought. Not even Zoe knows. He has had feelings for Zoe for some time now, but does not know how to act on it, until he almost loses her.
Zoe’s past comes back to haunt her when she is in a serious car accident while on her way to see her grandfather, Earl. She has amnesia and is apparently engaged to the man she has been in love with for years. What she does not know is that, though Martin loves her, he only realized it when she had her accident and he hopes she never remembers that they really are not engaged. Things get complicated when she learns of Earl’s death and her inheritance of the family chocolate company.
This is a warm and sometimes funny romance with a strong suspense plot line. Both Zoe and Martin have some secrets they would rather the other not know about, her family and his marriage. Zoe ran away from her controlling family and started a series of very successful businesses but never found a home until Grand River and the O’Neils. Zoe and Martin’s love story is complicated and tricky at times but always interesting. Her family is bizarre to say the least and the twists and turns in that part of the plot make the story even more enjoyable. This is one great story.
