Adam would like to do fun things, even though he knows he could get hurt. He is two years younger than his brother, Sean. Adam has Attention Deficit Disorder. Many of the boys call him ADD to his face. Lori does not see him much during the school year because of his condition. He holds a special place in her heart. Adam often sees Rachel but it does not seem to be going anywhere. He thinks Rachel is jealous of his friendship with Lori. Sean sees Lori in a different way this summer. Even if he upsets her a little bit, all he has to do is flash that killer smile and she instantly forgives him for everything. Sean begins spending more time with Lori lately then again Adam is beginning to show an interest. No longer do they see her like the sister next door. Lori would love to have that perfect romance but with two guys trying to get her attention, she can only choose one. Then she learns that one has loved her forever which prompts her to make her decision.
The Boys Next Door is a sweet and tender romance that blossoms for two young people. Jennifer Echols takes the reader back into memories of younger years. She creates a feel of the humid area of Alabama near the water. Those who have lived or been in Alabama will indeed get a sense of everything she instills in her scenery. Lori, Adam and Sean are delightful characters who breathe life into the story. The adding of Adam and his ADD was a great addition to the storyline. Whether young or old, this is a story that should be enjoyed by all. Ms. Echols touches upon many elements while penning a believable story that is purely charming.
