THE BLANK BOOK
Rating: 4 Cups
Alice Williams is a widow living in a small town in Indiana. Still young at only forty years old, she feels very unfulfilled. The one thing that makes her happy is her writing, but she longs for more.
Robert Diamond, Hollywood movie star, is drawn to Quidnunc, Indiana, because of a dream. He cannot sleep because the same dream constantly wakes him up every night. So he is determined to find the woman responsible so he can finally get some peace.
After seeing a bad science fiction movie starring a very handsome actor, Alice feels inspired to write a bit of fiction. She begins to write her story in a beautiful leather bound book that mysteriously showed up in a box of books she bought at the local library’s used book sale. Somehow the story she wrote in this book is forcing her life in a similar direction. Will this magical, mysterious book help her find true love and happiness or destroy her future?
The Blank Book is a unique and very enjoyable story. Ms. Scott’s writing flows seamlessly, while giving the reader an up close experience with the characters. Although a contemporary romance, the little paranormal twist makes the story even more interesting. The heroine has a very down to earth personality, and her hero is a dazzling movie star, which makes for some fun dialogue and intriguing dynamics. This is a very sweet love story with a satisfying conclusion. I hope to read more from the talented Magdalena Scott.
