Princess Cecily Worril was the heir to her fathers throne. She was spoiled, pampered, and never had to know the struggles of the common people in her kingdom. Then one night in a fit of rage, Cecily changed her whole life and was sent away by her father to learn more about the kingdom she was one day meant to rule.
Master Phillip Petulengro was a blacksmith in one of the most prosperous cities in the country. His only problem was the guild master and he didn’t see eye to eye. Traveling home from a trip Phillip met Cecily and instantly he was intrigued by her.
Cecily was surrounded by people that she never knew were out to steal her throne. It was not until she was attacked on her trip that her eyes started opening to what was really going on. With the help of her friend, Phillip, she was out to save her country from war. Could she trust the man that told her little of him self but seemed to know everything about her? Would she ever find out the secret of Phillip’s past, a secret that he was reluctant to ever reveal to anyone?
I started out reading this book, thinking it was going to receive a 3 cup rating, but with out warning this story changed from a slow starter into one full of court intrigue, betrayal, and death. I suddenly found I was drawn into the story not wanting to stop reading so I could find out what was on the next page. The story took on a life of its own and pulled me right in. This book turned out to be a wonderful surprise. It is a must read for anyone who loves historical mixed with a little romance, lots of action, and a whole lot of mystery.
