THE ANGEL OF BALLY FERRITER
Rating: 5 Cups
Robert Ahearne decides to spend some of his summer in a village in Ireland. This is one relaxing summer he would like to learn Gaelic. Unfortunately the other man, Jack, who is in the class with him, seems to get on one’s nerves very fast.
Alana Riordan is a barmaid at the pub, in the town of Bally Ferriter. When she meets Robert, he believes her to be a true angel.
Robert, a high school English teacher from Boston, and only one other man are in a beginner’s class to learn Irish. While Robert lost his dear wife fifteen years ago in a car accident, Jack can do nothing but hit on waitresses while bashing his wife. When Robert and Jack go to a local pub and Jack begins hitting on Alana, Robert comes to her rescue. She has heard enough of Jack badmouthing his wife, and when she enlists Robert’s help, she tells him he must take her to an upcoming dance. Now Robert can only wonder what will happen when Jack learns Robert has a date with his obsession. As the days pass on for Alana and Robert, they try to make their time together a happy event as their romance slowly blossoms.
Once again, Jennifer Mueller composes a tale that captivates and carries the reader into a vivid place and time that is wonderfully created. The Angel of Bally Ferriter is a lovely story by a wonderful storyteller who continues to blend passion and adventure with everything her pen touches. When I read a book by Ms. Mueller, I know it is going to be good. She is one author who never disappoints and once again this is an extraordinary story that leaves a lasting impression as the charming Robert and delightful Alana grace the pages spinning a delightful story most enchanting.
