Nicholas Lyon is a divorce lawyer and knows all too well how infidelity can ruin a marriage, but when a new face is hired at the firm, she proves to be a bad temptation to him. Now thoughts of cheating on his wife, after all these years, spring forth in his head.
Sara Kaplan sets her sights on Nicholas after joining the firm. As a young associate, she finds Nicholas a challenge. Surely after years of being married to the same woman, Sara is out to prove even Nicholas can easily be seduced.
Nicholas has a lovely wife, Malinche, and three daughters that he has learned quite a bit from. Even though he and Malinche have grown comfortable in their relationship, infidelity is not a word in his vocabulary, until Sara sends signals his way. Then again, he is human and once Sara enters the doors to the firm, she proves to be a great temptation. In no time, Nicholas cannot remove the visions of Sara from his head. Happy to be at the firm, Sara manages to strike up conversation with Nicholas everyday and finds him a conquest. The more she learns about him, the more she wishes to get him in her bedroom. With every wile she can think of, she sets her goal to seduce Nicholas, but will he be strong enough to walk away and remember his vows to Malinche?
The Adultery Club has a way of drawing in the audience with the direction of the voices of Nicholas, Malinche and Sara as they each narrate their details. I could get a general feel for each of the players, and if I had been in Malinche’s shoes, I know I would have done a great deal more about the situation. The word ‘noose’ entered my mind many times. This story will definitely make one look deeper into their marriage and perhaps do a bit of elimination to see if anything is suspiciously out of the norm. Ms. Stimson does an outstanding job in depicting real-life events and sensations that play among the cast. She definitely pulls the reader into the action and keeps them glued until the conclusion.
