THE BROTHERHOOD: MARCUS’ MAGIC
Cassandra is a reporter writing for the entertainment pages of a local paper. Without a man for some time by choice, she wants to feel something other than lust in her next relationship. She is assigned to cover an art opening and interview a powerful businessman. She completes her assignment, but is fascinated by the man assigned to escort her. Marcus affects her like no one else ever has.
Marcus is a master vampire and one of the Brotherhood of Eight. His brother and leader, Archer, has called him to DC to protect a reporter named Cassandra. She is nothing like the last woman he loved, but draws him very strongly. He thinks that he only has to protect her from his old rival Tane, but there are much more dangerous things in the night.
A rogue vampire threatens to take control of the United States and possibly the world and it is up to the Brotherhood to stop him. To do this, they must have the cooperation of humans and other supernatural beings. That cooperation is threatened when the mayor’s daughter is kidnapped.
I had to catch my breath after reading this one. The action starts out fast and never really lets up. The main characters, especially Marcus, Cassandra, and Archer, are very vivid and the supporting characters are almost as well drawn. The suspense portion of the story had me on the edge of my seat, and the love scenes were volcanic. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
