Rating: 4 cups
After being run out of town ten years ago, Faith Matthews is back with her sixteen month-old daughter, Aubrey, in tow. No one in the small Texas town is happy to see her back, especially since she is stepping into the role of assistant district attorney. Only two and a half months ago, her mother and sister were murdered, and it looks like Faith is the next name on the killer’s list.
Beck Tanner is the sheriff and has always believed the worst about Faith. With a lot of bad blood between Faith and the Tanner family, Beck needs some clarification on a situation which happened before Faith left town. When Beck is placed in charge of protecting Faith and Aubrey, the case is solved and a romance able to bloom.
The murders of Faith’s sister and mother have people pointing fingers at Darin, Faith’s mentally unstable brother. Faith does not believe her brother committed these crimes. Beck believes he committed them with the help of an accomplice. Faith wants to clear her brother’s name and get him the help he needs. Neither Faith nor Beck is ready when the murderer comes calling at their door.
This is a fantastic story that kept me guessing as to who the killer was. There are so many suspects and so many reasons why they would want to see the Matthews family gone. Faith is a tough lady. Beck is the perfect match for her and vice versa. Together, they are a couple who should not be messed with. I encourage you to pick up this book. Ms. Fossen knows how to keep the reader interested and on the edge of their seat.
