Emma Sarris was adopted by the Mayor of Paradise, New Mexico and his wife who also have a son named William. The only tangible link to her parents is the silver brooch left her when she was three.

Luke Reinhardt is the assistant chief engineer of the Southern Pacific Railroad. Being the child of a Chippewa mother, he has endured much scrutiny from certain races.

Emma has many questions about her parents but now she wishes to get out of an upcoming marriage to a man she does not love. Her parents believe Calvin, the banker’s son, is the best choice. When Luke arrives to get a signed contract paper from the Mayor, he and Emma feel an attraction. Things take a spin for the two when William, who has a bad gambling habit, uses the brooch in a card game. Luke is the lucky recipient of the silver brooch. Emma is upset when she learns what William has done. She heads out to find Luke and retrieve her possession, only to find out he is boarding the next stage. Leaving everything else behind her, she will go to the ends of the earth to regain what is rightfully hers, no matter what the consequences.

Tempted Fate: Legacy of the Celtic Brooch Book III is part of a series of books surrounding an heirloom Celtic Brooch. To be honest, I have yet to read the other tales in the series, but this one absolutely swept me away. The refreshing characters add much to the story, keeping the reader in awe. Karyna DaRosa creates a breathtaking read that not only captivates but is thoroughly pleasurable. Her style of prose had me rapidly turning the pages and left an ending that said ecstasy in this terrific tale.
