Christina Lakely has lived through a personal family tragedy that gave her the desire to become a police officer. She joins the Police Academy to complete her goal.
Kyle Hamilton is immediately attracted to a woman he sees in a café. He would like to go out with her, but when she shows up in his Academy, things change.
Christina finds the Police Academy extremely difficult physically. She works very hard, but it is difficult to overcome the prejudices against women police officers. Her ultimate goal is to work in the sex crimes unit. Kyle does not want to see Christina succeed. He finds he cares too much for her to see her put in harm’s way. Will the two reconcile their differences in time to crack an important case as well as find out if they belong together?
Sweet Victory is a light and easy-going read. The extensive explanation of the Police Academy is very educational and enlightening. The reader easily sympathizes with Christina in her day-to-day problems with training. The chemistry between Christina and Kyle could be a bit stronger, but the characters were described well. All in all, Ms. Roseberry’s story is a fun contemporary romance.
