Teresa Knight loves playing poker but the first time she played it in Africa, it was actually gin rummy and the guy facing her was one delectable cookie. She was ahead in the game and nothing else mattered. She enjoys the idea of being joined with Simon in a sensual way that did not need any crackling fire. When the stakes turn higher, Teresa is soon cast into a subversive game of strip poker leading her into the path of some others leading secret lives.
Janet Freeman Marshall once a Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and on the shortlist for the elite post of High Commissioner in South Africa takes center stage at the games.
Helena is a good friend of Teresa’s and they socialize very well together. Helena always finds good-looking men to help make her mortgage payments.
Lionel, vice-president at Buccaneer Cape Mining, does economic risk analysis of new acquisition territories. One wonders about his connection.
It is a game of pretend and destiny that not only disturbs the mind but instills some erotic sensations for side dishes as Teresa is caught up with finding out who is blackmailing a well-known black politician. Janet not only likes to bring on the charm but it appears she loves her sex on the wild side. When she gets a strange note, she can only hope that Teresa can help find the blackmailer, after all, Helena had placed high hopes in Teresa offering her expertise help. A woman of dignity, whose husband had been dead six years, Janet believes her sex life is her own private affair but someone out there has other ideas. In no time Teresa has a long list of suspects that could possibly be blackmailing Janet but the closer she becomes to finding the truth, drugs and murder enter the picture with Teresa even more confused over the situation as some tantalizing passion plays in tune along the way. Either way a killer must be stopped while a deep-seated mystery must come to light.
Lisa Lawrence certainly weaves a breathtaking tale of poker, sensual passion and intensity in this spellbinding read. She instills a wide range of ambience to the atmosphere, surrounding the characters, that it puts the reader in the middle of the games, the erotic temptations and all the pleasurable moments filled with fantasy keeps one on the edge of the seat figuring out who possibly is behind the blackmail then the murder. Teresa is a powerful character driven to not only getting her job done but to also enjoy some gratifying moments along the way. I liked her character because, even though, she has sensational sexual exploits, her head is on her shoulders before jumping in to any serious relation before she has given it considerable thought. Strip Poker will have the reader looking at playing poker in a whole different light.
