Sara Lane is trying to get a homeless shelter ready within the month. Thanks to a curse of genetic heart problems, death may be knocking at her door before she can get the task done.
Cain does not enjoy his job. He dislikes wiping out dreams or witnessing others suffer. With his own problems to deal with, taking Sara under his wings was not supposed to happen.
Cain finds Sara feisty and likes everything about her, but it is time for her to pay the price. He cannot go against his Maker. Sara knows genetic heart problems run in the family, but she is not ready to die yet. City Hall has given her until the end of the month to finish the homeless shelter. When death calls, she begs for Cain to give her the time to complete something worthwhile. Reluctantly, he gives her two weeks. He cannot bear the thought of ending her life, realizing the terrible consequences that can befall both them. Can they make use of their borrowed time or will higher powers destroy them?
I have to say Soul Stealer was a different read for me. I did find it quite interesting. Sara has a way of grabbing the reader and pulling them inside to all the obstacles that stand in her way. I could almost feel the trepidation running through her as she begs for more time. Her cries leap off the page when she recalls the deaths of her brothers and mother. I must admit the blurb alone is what really pulled me into this story. Cain is a wonderful asset with a huge heart. Kimberley Troutte spins a diverse read with thrown amphibians that carry messages along with other demons. She has fashioned a story that breathes life through this remarkable couple.
