Lady Penelope Norman is deemed an ice queen to some, while others are pleased with her crusade against the sensual excess of the men of the Upper Ten Thousand. While many of the men wish to see her quiet, one desires to explore her erotic need.
Jeremy Vaughn, Duke of Kilgrath is on a mission to quiet Lady Norman. The men are tired of their lifestyle being interrupted by one woman. Jeremy must find a way to lavish the woman even if he has to become her mystery lover.
Jeremy is part of a group known as the, ‘nevers,’ six men who bond to never change, falter or love, except for his brother, Matthew, who broke the vow and married. The men believe Penelope more an annoyance and wish to put a stop to her mouth speaking of their erotic lifestyles. The right man could possibly melt her heart and stop the meddling into the men’s affairs. When the shortest stick is drawn to see who will seduce the fair Penelope, it appears Jeremy is the winner. At first sight, Penelope is practically smitten with Jeremy. He has a certain sex appeal that seems to attract women but she knows he is the enemy. She is completely shocked to hear he supports her cause, but wonders is it just a ploy? Jeremy believes she has a passionate spirit that needs releasing. No matter how hard she tries to fight any budding feelings for Jeremy, she wonders can he really guarantee a life of happiness and pleasure, or is her heart getting set for a huge rejection?
Something Reckless is a sensual read with some stirring games along the way. The reader is immediately drawn into the story once the men begin their speech to put a stop to Penelope’s wagging tongue. I love the connection Penelope and Jeremy share as his mysterious way to sway her slowly develops. Their emotions are painted well during the conquest. Jess Michaels’ flare for writing has a way of capturing the reader and reeling them in with the first sentence. This erotic historical filled with simmering passion, shows the real depth of Penelope and Jeremy’s love, making this one enlightening read.
