Mimi Olson has made being a slacker into an art form. Having spent her life avoiding any sort of responsibility or entanglements, she is dismayed to find her family’s vacation spot, Chez Ducky, in jeopardy of being sold by an overly ambitious relative. Unfortunately, doing anything about it goes against her personal philosophy of “Just Let It Slide.”

Joe Tierney, workaholic and germaphobe, could not be more different from Mimi. He is all about responsibility. Owing to that he comes to the lake to visit his estranged son, Prescott. He finds Mimi odd, kooky, and totally irresistible.

A series of unfortunate events which Mimi insists she has nothing to do with put both Joe and Prescott in wheelchairs with Mimi as caretaker. Suddenly she has more responsibility than she ever thought she would be comfortable with. Will she rise to the occasion, or slide out from under it?

A thoroughly charming book. I absolutely adored Mimi, who somehow manages to grow without becoming a grown up. Joe was wonderful. Ms. Brockway manages to pen a prissy and yet entirely masculine male character. The situations the author lands her characters into had me laughing so hard I could barely read. The host of secondary characters were zany and original. I highly recommend this read to everyone that loves a good laugh.
