Rebecca St. James, a musician who has won a Grammy and a Dove Award for her
contemporary Christian music, is best known for her passionate involvement in
youth-related ministries.  She put this book together to show the world the sacrifices
some young women have made for their faith in God.

Sister Freaks is divided into twelve weeks with each week containing five stories from
women who have made sacrifices, sometimes their lives, for their love of God.  At the
end of each chapter are thought provoking questions, and space to write your own
thoughts.

I found the stories in Sister Freaks to be very touching and inspiring.  One story that
stood out for me was the story of a young Pakistani woman who had to hide her interest
in the Christian faith from her Islamic father.  When he did find out, he beat her.  She had
to keep hiding because her father and brothers wanted to kill her.  That is certainly
something to think about.

The stories in Sister Freaks range from historical figures to everyday women who have
made sacrifices for their faith.  The questions at the end of each chapter made me think
about my own choices in life.  I think this is a good book to read even if you are not
religious because some people make sacrifices in their lives for other reasons, and the
stories are inspiring all on their own.
