Jessie Johnson knows her brother is known for getting into predicaments but this last one takes the cake, especially when a mother snatches her away to become a wife to one of her sons. She always planned to fall in love and marry but never like this.
Kid Quinter left home on his sixteenth birthday, twelve years ago, to work on his empire. After five long years, he has finally built his ideal home and ranch. Living with his hound, Sammy, he is well on his way in becoming a cattle baron.
Jessie cannot believe she is being offered in exchange over a horse. After her brother Russell steals a horse and cannot produce it to the owners, Stephanie Quinter takes matters into her hands. Russell decides to offer his sister, Jessie, in exchange for the horse. One look at Jessie and Stephanie knows she is perfect for her son. Kid is not keen on the idea but agrees on one condition. Russell will work for him for ten months, to pay his debt then the marriage will be dissolved. When Jessie has the chance to leave, will this shotgun wielding bride leave Kid or discover she is truly in love?
Shotgun Bride is a captivating read. I was immediately consumed with the characters, the good biting dialogue and visualizations are so real, they grab instantly. If the first book is this yummy, the others have to be even more delicious. One can almost see the layered expressions on Jessie’s and Kids’ faces, especially with the portrait of the wedding opening. This firecracker of a story should not to be missed. With a lively cast, this tale brings out the old west, even allowing the reader to feel in the center of all the cattle drives. This magnetic tale is outstanding.
