Vivilyn Ondine is on the run after completing her undercover stint as the bride-to-be of a Mafia don in order to get back a stolen precious gem called the Soul of the Sea. Neither the gem or Vivilyn are what they seem and the mafia wants them both back. With the enthralling voice of a sea siren, Vivilyn has managed to stay one step ahead, but her luck is about to run out.
Peter Varien is hired to locate the runaway bride, as an out-of-work detective turned private eye he swears the only type of luck he has is bad. This time he is determined not to fail. Peter successfully locates Vivilyn in a Memphis nightclub and is soon torn between turning Vivilyn over to the Mafia or keeping her for himself.
While on the run from the Mafia and fighting their mutual attraction, Peter and Vivlyn discover there is a lot they have to learn about each other and themselves. Bound together in a desperate struggle against a dangerous enemy they soon realize that it will take both of them to prevail.
Ms Curtis creates a story that is full of excitement and mystery. A very good read about a fairy tale romance and the pitfalls on the road to love. The imagination used to create such a realistic description of sea creatures and how they live among land creatures is amazing. The flow of the story opens the reader to the beginning of the next. Ms Curtis has a real talent for including past characters while introducing future characters. The ending left me eager to read the next book in the series and learn more about the wonderful world Ms. Curtis creates.
