A successful artist, Breanne MacKinnon is a loner who needs no company in her life. Over the past week her art has been taking on a dark, mysterious tone and she does not understand why. Breanne finds a mysterious old book and takes it home, setting off the beginning of her adventure.

Gabriel Sawyer is a man on the run. It is quite by accident when he meets Breanne. Convinced he will only bring her danger, he tries to hold himself distant from her, but Breanne’s feelings push them closer together.

Gabriel raised and hatched dragons for his father’s army in an alternate world of Breanne’s hometown. Gabriel has come to this world in search of the book in order to stop the destruction of both worlds. When Breanne is endangered, they use the book to go to Gabriel’s world.

This is in no way a stand alone story. It is the second book in a series, and I had to purchase the first one to answer a few of my unanswered questions. The story was exciting and the chemistry popped between Gabriel and Breanne, but the plot felt rushed. I would have enjoyed learning more about the dragons, what his father was up to, and more action in the fight.
