SEARCHING FOR PARADISE IN PARKER, PA
1745 Broadway New York, New York 10019
Rating: 4 Cups
Addy Lipton is searching for more than what she has after 28 years of marriage to Lucky. She is just about to the breaking point and then a brief glimpse of hope; a trip to Costa Rica with Lucky, only he isn’t so lucky as he manages to fracture his back resulting in the trip being canceled. This leads Addy to make some dramatic and drastic changes to her life, including separating and possibly divorcing Lucky.
Lucky Lipton is feeling almost the same way as Addy that they have lost what they once had. Only how do you get it back? After the canceled trip to Costa Rica, and separation from Addy Lucky starts to undergo a transformation of his own. His friends and therapist are all encouraging the changes he needs to make. But he wonders if he can do enough to save his marriage.
Lucky and Addy start an all out war between the sexes. Men vs. the women. The women want the men to stand up and take notice what they do and take some pride in themselves. The challenges have been set and the bar is high. Will all of Parker begin to see themselves and their relationships in a new light or is this a war where no one wins?
This was an absolute delight to read. I would love to see this as a movie on Lifetime. I loved the townspeople of Parker, Pa.; they are so entertaining you can almost forget the seriousness of the subjects. Ms. Radish takes such important issues that all relationships face and runs a twist of humor through out resulting in the town of Parker Pa. and its inhabitants. Yet even with the humor, the issues are also serious ones that require decisions to be made. I expect that you too will enjoy Searching For Paradise In Parker, Pa. as much as I did.
