Detective Kaitlyn McKinney is a good detective who often offers her PI skill to the police force to help in other cases. Such is in the case when she is called on about a burnt body.
Landon Rourke has been exiled from his pack of werewolves. He is a lone wolf that holds secrets. It is his responsibility now to keep a watch over Kaitlyn and make sure no harm comes to her.
Sometimes the dead have a way of communicating with Kaitlyn but she does not tell everyone. It might have jeopardized her promotion. She wonders why Landon is at the scene of the burnt body when she arrives. There is something about him that pulls her in like a magnet and makes her feel toasty all over. He has not worked a case for the NYPD for three years. She has no idea he has been watching over her. Landon loves her ferocity and savage intensity. He would love to be closer to her but has so much on his plate. There is a prophecy stating that one day there will be peace between the vampires and werewolves, but whether that will ever happen, Landon has no idea. For now he suffers with an error that still imposes pain to him as he wears a chain to remember. After he and Kaitlyn investigate the burnt body in the park, along with some other murders, he wonders can they unravel answers that will help the cause. More importantly he wonders will Kaitlyn accept him when she learns his hidden secret.
I must say the relationship that builds around Kaitlyn and Landon is brilliantly composed in Scions Insurrection. The passion intensifies each time Kaitlyn and Landon are together. This fast moving read delivers conflict, love, mystery and passionate moments. It is a prophecy that keeps the reader intrigued and the pages rapidly turning. Patrice Michelle weaves a fascinating story that tugs at the heart. Learning the secrets and discoveries that Kaitlyn and Landon face with each other made my heart leap right along with them. The way Ms. Michelle pens Landon in his misery is so real. Even Kaitlyn and her hidden skills touched upon this reader. This story thrills from beginning to end.
