York Blackstone is a highwayman with a very interesting past. He found his midnight miss, all curled up under a tree tending her dog and the pups just whelped. Intrigued by her looks he cannot just leave her to freeze so he takes her with him.

The meeting of Marielle and York is anything but calm. She accuses him of kidnapping and using her for his own gains. The problem is he may have started things that way until he fell in love with her. She responds to his attentions and falls under his spell. Together they team up to bring about his rightful inheritance, which was taken away by the father of her betrothed. This includes an ensemble of intriguing characters to help the Blackstone Brothers regain their rightful place in society and bring the downfall of the traitor to the Crown.

I enjoyed this lively tale; it has all the elements to keep readers entertained from beginning to end. You feel for all those involved, the sins of the fathers indeed falls to the children. I found that this is a very lively cast of characters who know that doing the right thing is better and more fun, in the long run. Regencies show us how people lived around King George and his indiscretions and madness. This is filled with how one man could ruin another completely and set himself up with only a word to a mad monarch. I am so happy to say that this story is entertaining, justice prevails and even a happy ending or two.
