Travis is a NYPD Lieutenant. His best friend and former brother-in-law FBI agent Frank D’Angelo is killed by mob boss Morelli. Morelli takes his investigation notebook, which will identify the crooked agent who is on his payroll. A cat burglar, known as the Jaguar has stolen the notebook from Morelli and Travis must travel to a ski resort in New Mexico to find her.
Gillian is owed a fee by fellow vampiro Morelli. When he refuses to pay, she steals D’Angelo’s notebook from him to use as leverage. Morelli now wants to kill her and she has a very sexy policeman searching for her also.
Travis goes home to the southwest to find a woman who may have information about the murder of his best friend. He never expects to fall in love with a 300-year-old vampire. She is surprised at just how much he knows about their kind. Before they can pursue a possible relationship, they must first survive both the vampiros chasing them and the very powerful one whose territory they have entered.
This is a very exciting story. The author manages to tell us all about the main characters and a very involving tale in a brief period, leaving the reader breathless. Gillian and Travis are mature characters who definitely know what they want. Travis’s connection with Don Rafael is a surprising and welcome twist, making his acceptance of Gillian much more plausible. I loved Ms. Whiteside’s vampire world and will definitely be reading more of her stories.
