Reese Soleby, Viscount of Trendon, is finally willing to give up his spying ways and settle down. His father had made a match for him and now he must follow through, or the lady might lose her reputation. Wanting some last excitement, a friend comes to him asking for help to acquire a ring that could change lives. But he runs into an old friend, Le Chat, and this time it is a woman. Can he go through with his plans and still keep his promise?
Catherine Traubal is one who wants to marry for love, yet her father procured this match for her and now she is not sure she should go through with it. The man does not seem to care for her and has his mind on other things. Her friend Molly keeps reminding her to keep things simple so her heart is not broken, but can she?
Rumors fly around that even though Reese and Catherine are betrothed, Reese will not go through with it. Catherine is worried about it but cannot help her feelings. Every time she turns around Reese is running off. The time he is around, he only makes her heart beat faster. The secrets between them could keep them apart. Catherine only hopes to find the one she loves the most and prays he shares her feelings.
This is a beautiful romance where alliances may seem different, but after all is revealed, are the same. Ms. Farabough has a wonderful story on her hands of a time period I enjoy the most. I found not only the areas described done well but also the characters can be related to even when they live in the 1800’s. The emotions are very real. I also found the highs and lows kept me reading to see what would happen next. I was swept up in a story full of secrets, intrigue, and a match made in heaven!
