Jeanette Monroe is an architect obsessed with sex, getting some that is, and particularly with her friend Malcolm McVee. When it comes to sex with Mal, while she loves it, he is unreliable, not calling for months after they get together, and she finds herself giving far more than she is receiving. However, that changes when she meets Bryce Conner.
Bryce is one of Jeanette’s clients and an all around nice guy. He is attracted to and genuinely likes her from the beginning. When he asks her out to dinner, Mal calls her cell phone asking her to pick him up for what basically amounts to a booty call. Not sure if she is already with someone, Bryce almost leaves until he hears Jeanette tell her caller she already has a date.
After several months of dating Bryce, Jeanette discovers he is much more to her taste than Mal. However, she feels she has left something undone, and even Bryce has that sense as well. Respectful of her, Bryce understands when she says she must tie up a loose end before they can go forward. It is only when she does tie up that loose end that it becomes apparent to her what she really wants for her life.
This is an enjoyable story. Ms. Blue does an excellent job of portraying how unbalanced a relationship can become when a woman gives up too much of her personal power to a man. In turn, she also shows what an equal relationship can be like. The characters are memorable and the lesson well described. In some ways, this book reads like a parable, but I liked that about it. If you enjoy your erotic romance with a bit of a lesson, this is the book for you.
