Poetry has been a little hard to find over the past few years. Perhaps many people
thought it only for poetry lovers to seek out. Or perhaps poetry has had the reputation of
being too abstract and lyrical for mainstream readers. Whatever the reason, poetry has
not received the attention it deserves, that could be set to change.
Liz DeJesus presents us with a bevy of poems to which we all can relate. Through
looking inside herself, she gives you the catalyst to look inside yourself, to explore your
own emotions and inner thoughts. There is nothing more fulfilling than to know oneself.
But there is nothing complicated here, this is a book to relax with and enjoy.
This excellent collection may well be one of the forerunners in the increasing popularity
of poetry reading and writing. I believe the world is ready for more accessible poetry
and this book is a great place to start. I have enjoyed poetry for a good many years, but I
enjoy none so much as a clearly defined emotional journey, such as I have read in this
book
Is there any better poetry than that from the heart? Liz DeJesus sees inside the human
emotions, producing a collection of poems to be read over and over. What I love about
this book is that you can come back to it over again and, depending on where you are in
life, a different piece may jump out at you. Filled with observations and experiences of
the inner turmoil we all have at times, Poems To Use When Hiding From The Shadows
is a nice oasis for introspection.
