As a cultural anthropologist, Diandra takes great pleasure in immersing herself in foreign cultures. She travels the globe seeking out remote villages, but one place has always eluded her, the lost valley in the Himalayas.

Yeshi Rulan is the youngest of four brothers, and upon returning to his home in the hidden valley, he comes upon a huge surprise. It is not only custom, but also the law, that brothers are to marry the same woman; however, it is common courtesy to have unanimous consent.

Diandra is determined to find a way into the lost valley, and when she meets Hama Rulan, she realizes her dream. However there is one tiny catch, she must become a member of their tribe, and to do so, she must marry into it. The second shock comes when she learns of their marriage ritual, but she cannot say she is disappointed. Surprise number three -- she is tearing apart her heart and a family by falling in love with one of her husbands.

The fascination with secret societies, hidden cultures, and lost cities is brought to life by Ms. Mercury, as is the price to be paid when such things are unearthed. These people and their lives captivate Diandra, but nothing ever seems to be enough for her. She finds the hidden valley, she is immersed in the most erotic and pleasurable love affair, but still she wants more. I found this rather disheartening, but the raging passion and the wonderful detail given to the characters and their surroundings make this a fabulous read.
