Ali Donavon is an agent for the FBI. She loves the job; taking out the drug lords and gun runners is what she lives for. The rush of adrenaline is better than any drug on the market. No man has ever been able to compare, until she meets Gun.
FBI Agent Jack Gunnison’s life is his job. He eats, sleeps, and breathes the mission. His bad boy image is not a front, but a bone deep commitment to live his life on the edge. He relies on no one but himself, and likes it that way.
Ali cannot believe her luck. She is saddled with the one man in the FBI who not only detests working with a partner, but sets off every one of her hormones like fireworks. Gun is as infuriating as he is sexy, and Ali cannot keep her hands off of him. Thrown together on a mission is the last thing Gun wants to do with Donavon, but as fate would have it here they are. Gun and Donavon do not even try to deny their attraction for each other, but both are determined to keep it casual. No feelings involved…right. Ali is hooked, and knows with certainty that no other man will ever compare to Gun. She is however a realist, and does her best to keep her feelings under lock. Gun knows that in order to keep Ali at arms length he is going to have to hurt her, but in the long run she will be better off without him. Their first mission together is deadly and dangerous, and becomes the catalyst for untold horrors yet to come. Donavon and Gun are like opposing magnets, fiercely hot and crashing into each other, or repelling and pushing the other away. Can they ever make it work, or will the job and fear of the ultimate commitment keep them apart forever?
This is excellent; truly one of the best books I have read in a long time. The suspense and adventure are everything you could ask for. It is superbly written and will keep you on the edge of your seat. The romance is just as fantastic. The main characters are exactly what the reader is looking for. They are tough as nails, intelligent, and fight for their love as well as their country. I could easily read this over and over, and would love to see Donavon and Gun again. Both thumbs up for Palace of the Jaguar, and a huge thank-you to Ms. Womack for such a great read!
