FBI Agent Harmony Swift is tired of men and women judging her on her looks. Just because she has Barbie doll physical beauty with the trademark blond hair and body, does not mean she has nothing going on upstairs.

Cole Hackett has had eight years to come to terms with being set up by the FBI and thrown in jail for a crime that he did not commit. With twenty-seven of those years left to go, he has settled in as best as he can with the realization that he will be old and gray before he can see freedom.

When a fellow agent and the closest thing to family Harmony has gets kidnapped by the Russian mafia, she does the only thing she can. Taking a supposed vacation, this beautiful agent leaves town, breaks Cole out of prison, and heads to Los Angeles. What follows is a chase filled with fake FBI agents, real FBI agents, cops, Russian Mafia, and wacky characters. With lust thrown in between an FBI agent and an ex-con, Harmony’s beauty and Cole’s smarts, what could possibly go wrong?

Packing Heat is a madcap race for freedom filled with crazy schemes and hare-brained ideas, and Ms. McCall has written a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants story jam-packed with action, drama, laughter, and passion. The only dilemma I found with the story was that I guessed the ‘bad guy’ midway through it, leaving me slightly frustrated that these two smarty pants could not figure it out. I loved how rough and tough Cole starts out with a bad boy persona until Harmony blasts him with her optimistic attitude and brighter-than-sunshine smile. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that underneath Harmony’s doll-like looks, there was a core of steel and strength that made her opponents underestimate her time after time. This is definitely a novel for anyone who enjoys zany characters, fast cars, and intense action. This is a story that will keep you on the edge and wondering if this is the next book to hit the big screen.
