Lady Jane Spencer Guthrie lost her husband one year, four months and ten days ago. If anything, her marriage taught her to expect nothing. Living in a household, being treated like a servant was not what she bargained for, especially when the head of the house would like nothing more than to make her his mistress.
Seth Rutledge, the Earl of St. Claire, believes the young woman at the ball is quite enticing. He watches her with keen interest. There is something about her that reminds him of home. For a moment he is reminded of Jane, a young girl he once knew years ago. He would love to steal a kiss from her lips.
Jane has the opportunity to go to a masquerade ball. Her lifelong nurse, Anna, helps her look presentable for the event even though being a widow; she is not supposed to be out socializing. She believes the ball is just the medicine she needs. Jane never thought of the marriage bed as particularly exciting, nor understood when widows took lovers. Then she runs into Seth, the man who chose her sister over her. She has never forgotten him and he still stirs her heart. So much has happened in their lifetime. Seth is bound by duty to find a bride of convenience. Jane wishes to leave a house where the family only brings her pain. Once friends, now their desires go beyond friendship. With so much against them, can they find happiness in a marriage where love can hold so much more meaning?
One Night With You is full of passion and thrilling excitement. Jane and Seth make a room come alive when they are together. Their scenes leave the reader almost breathless. Sophie Jordan does an amazing job in creating stirring scenes between Jane and Seth, as well as great drama creations with Jane, as she stands up to Desmond. The well-rounded secondary casts are a great addition to the story and blend in well, making this tale one of pure delight. The expressions and emotions of each individual are remarkably sketched and jump out at the reader. This wonderful story is a great addition to any bookshelf.
