Imogen Lake is a midwife nurse for her local hospital in Queensland, Australia. When her ex-husband gets a small stint on a soap opera in London, England, she flies there to be closer to her son during the Christmas holiday. While there she rings up the temp agency for the local hospital to let them know she is available if they need her.

Dr. Angus Maitlin is the emergency room consultant with more crises on his hands than he can handle. When a burn victim comes into the E.R., he gets an extra nurse to help out in their time of need. He does not expect some woman from a different division of the hospital much less from a different country to come to the rescue.

When Imogen and Angus first meet, sparks fly as their tempers let loose. However, as the hours and days go by working side by side, they become close friends. When Angus has a crisis of his own at home, he enlists her help as a nanny to help take care of his kids. As their days and nights are spent together, attraction soon follows and when things are getting hot, Imogen’s ex-husband comes back into the picture in the hope of starting things over.

Ms. Marinelli has written a tender, sentimental story about love in the most unexpected places and at the most startling time for Angus. One of the main reasons I like One Magical Christmas is how the female character Imogen is described throughout the story through Angus’ eyes. When we first meet her, he describes her as “large” due to the fact that she is very busty; however, as time goes by, he comes to see her as beautiful and not plain or “large” as he first thought. There is a hidden message of how love is blind within this story that is absolutely wonderful, and readers will find themselves very content after reading this one.
