Firefighter Lucy Jones has a problem, she cannot touch anyone without immediately healing them of any illness. Normally this would be an incredible gift, especially if one were able to keep it a secret. However, Lucy has not been so lucky. Taken from her loving family after a near-death experience, the result of which was her unique gift, she was raised and imprisoned by The Foundation. Finally as an adult escaping into a new life with a new name, Lucy thinks she is safe, until a stranger comes to stay at the firehouse.
Ken Dutton is a reporter who has come to the firehouse for a month to research a special interest feature. He is immediately attracted to Lucy, but respectful of her seeming shyness and the over-protectiveness of her male co-workers, he keeps the attraction to himself.
When Lucy’s co-workers and their wives finally set Lucy and Ken up for a date, the sparks fly. Each discovers the attraction between them is mutual. However, on the day after their date, when Lucy and her fellow firefighters are called to a house fire, she uses her extraordinary gift. Ken snaps pictures, wanting her heroism to be rewarded, not realizing by doing so he is endangering her. It is only when she disappears and men from the Foundation show up to claim her that he begins to truly understand.
I adored One Touch, it is one of the most riveting, and suspenseful love stories I have had the pleasure of reading. Lucy and Ken are written as real people rather than just characters, which made the reading all the more enjoyable. Also, the paranormal aspects of this story were believable. For those who enjoy an exciting, sensual story, this one is not to be missed!
