While the rest of his crew out on a run, Sandy is left with plenty of time on his hands. Time he spends looking after a certain young bartender. He has been keeping an eye on Alex for quite some time. But what started out as a request from his boss has turned into a personal mission. Sandy considers Alex a friend. However, he cannot deny the intense attraction or the deep emotions that Alex arouses in him.

Alex was abducted as a child and forced into a life of sexual slavery. Despite years of inhumane treatment and a raging drug addiction, Alex managed to escape his captors. He is slowly making a life for himself on Doradus but he may never fully recover from the horrific abuse he has suffered. Alex is doing his best to put his past behind him. However, it seems his past is determined to find him once again.

Alex cannot believe that Nick wants him. The thought of being touched terrifies him. In desperation he turns to Sandy for help. Sandy cannot refuse Alex’s plea. However, he finds that spending time with Alex only intensifies his attraction. Meanwhile, Alex is surprised to realize that Sandy has awakened feelings, and desires that he though himself incapable of.

In Off World 2 by Stephanie Vaughan creates a whole world for her characters to inhabit. The reader is drawn into this world from the opening scene. This novel not only works as a romance but as a science fiction story as well. I found the romance in this story very believable. The story is both tender and sizzling. My favorite scenes were those where Alex and Sandy had only each other to interact with. They are so sweet together. I found myself smiling constantly as I read.
