Charlie Parker has a private investigation firm. Her husband, Drake, is in the helicopter service. They are at Watson Lake enjoying a long weekend of rest and relaxation; at least that is what Charlie believes until someone requests her services.

Amanda Zellinger has not seen her father for four years. She would like to hire Charlie to locate him. The police and insurance companies do not know of his whereabouts and she has heard Charlie gets the job done.

Charlie and Drake plan to do some fishing and enjoy a little adventure at Watson Lake but it appears that Charlie is about to find another venture. After Amanda learns Charlie is a private investigator, she is certain she can find her long lost father. Four years ago his house blew up and the insurance people suspected it to be a gas leak that caused the explosion and fire. Amanda’s father, David Simmons, was nowhere around during the fire. Some believe he caused it. Charlie reluctantly agrees to take the case. Amanda cannot believe her father would not go without contacting her unless something was amiss. She suspects the worse and needs answers. As Charlie begins her search it appears some people would rather not discuss the unsolved mystery as Charlie finds herself up against many odds.

Obsessions Can Be Murder is a tale that I loved. Charlie always puts all her efforts into unlocking any mystery that crosses her path. She is feisty when it comes to finding the truth, and loving and romantic when she is spending time with Drake. When she was with the others in the interrogation room, I wanted to join in when she considered breaking out the rubber hoses. Amanda’s determination to try to locate her father is quite commendable. It showed true fatherly love. Connie Shelton pens a unique suspense that pulls the reader into the trail while searching for answers. She blends in additional casts that has the reader wondering just who to really trust in this terrific tale, that mixes mystery and family relationships.
