Amber Porter walked away from a much loved acting career in her prime. After a scandal over a sex tape that never even existed, she has gone into seclusion. An avid shopper, Amber has acquired some beautiful and fascinating pieces over the years—like the beautiful and mysterious mirror she keeps in her room.

Kellan is a warrior. Abandoned as a child, he has watched as the evil Gull consumed and destroyed more and more of his once-peaceful world. Now he leads a rebellion against her, and the vile creatures she exploits, who bring havoc and death to the world of Obscure.

When a man claiming to be a Dwarf grabs hold of Amber and pulls himself into her bedroom from inside her mirror, the actress thinks she has somehow found herself in a strange dream or stage production. But the dangers are real, and Kellan tells her she is the only one who can save his home world. Now they need to stop Gull before she completely destroys Obscure and sets her sites on Amber’s world.

Obscure has a lot of good elements—romance, adventure, good vs. evil, and a healthy dose of magic. I do not think I fully connected with the characters, though, because there seemed to be a little missing in the lead up to their passionate scenes. Some readers need beware as there are a few scenes of graphic and bloody violence. As a whole, however, Obscure is an interesting story to pass a few hours time with.
