Literary agent and single mother Cathy Chambers is content but lonely. When a client stands her up on a lunch date, she enjoys a quiet meal alone watching the models prance around in-front of the baseball star across the room. Being a larger lady no longer bothers Cathy – well not as often - but she knows someone like her sons’ favorite star Marcus Fox would never look at a girl of her proportions. Until he sits at her table and asks for her number.

Marcus Fox has lived in the limelight most of his life. Having had a number of famous and very thin girlfriends in the past, Marcus is looking for more than the high profile games he’s had to play. He is not surprised when he finds himself fascinated with the beautiful Cathy.

Marcus and Cathy are thrown into media frenzy from the moment they meet. Most of the gossip reporters think that Cathy does not meet the required needs of a star baseball player. When Marcus’s ex-girlfriend turns up on the scene and decides to prove she can win Marcus back from Cathy, things become even worse.

Marcus is a loyal man not only to his team but also to Cathy. He cannot protect her from the media, but he can be there for her. Cathy is a strong woman. She has had to be because she raised twin sons alone. Although it was difficult, it did not prepare her for what she faces when she meets Marcus. Both character’s families and friends play a large and important role in the story. The strength and devotion of both Cathy and Marcus adds to the depth of the story. I have enjoyed Ms. Canton’s baseball romance but I felt at times that it was a little long-winded and repetitive.
