Jennifer is a successful psychologist and a popular radio host, but things have not always been this good. Many years ago she lost her young husband and infant son within months of each other. The guilt has kept her from getting seriously involved with a man since. Nowadays, the only involvement she has is with the rundown farmhouse she is trying to renovate.

Luke is recovering from the death of his supermodel wife. In effect, Cassie killed herself by ignoring the signs of cancer to pursue her career; she had also killed their unborn child rather than lose her figure. He accepts that she loved him in her own way, but he has to move on with his life.

While delivering a baby in a remote country store, a woman in need of a contractor meets a contractor in need of a good woman. Neither has any idea how the meeting will affect not just themselves, but others, too. Their friendship leads to healing their battered hearts, and hopefully will let them live again.

This is a wonderful inspirational tale that manages to get the message across without getting too sentimental. There is a very good romance here with elements of suspense. The characters are very real and the reader will get to know them well as the book progresses. The two main characters are very sympathetic and very stubborn. Both have been badly hurt, but only Luke seems to be willing to change at first. I loved his determination to break down Jennifer’s barriers. The other characters are very well done and grow throughout the story. This one is definitely worth reading.
