Isabelle Carson is a second grade teacher. She was once the foster child of child molester, Edgar Lavine, and was almost a victim herself. She is more than just grateful to Grant Kent for that.
Grant Kent is a product of the foster care system. He saved Isabelle from abuse by killing Lavine, and then made a career for himself in the military. They have always kept in touch.
Twelve children suffered the foster care of Edgar Lavine years ago. Six of them have died mysteriously. Isabelle Carson may be the next target. Concerned for Grant, she contacts him, and he is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, before the murderer kills again.
This is an edge of the seat suspense novel with a really good love story. Isabelle and Grant have made successes of their lives after a very rough start, Isabelle through her career and work with foster children and Grant in his military career. I found their love story fascinating. Grant is the consummate ladies’ man avoiding all commitment and Isabelle is a forever type of woman, but they can not stay away from each other. The subplots interweave with the story very well, and the characters are well written and very memorable. The suspense portion of the story is gripping and I was a bit surprised by the villain’s identity, though the clues were all there. This is one book you will just not be able to put down.
