Vivian was sold by her father to a freak show when she was fourteen. Rupert Villiers saved her and taught her to be a lady and a lethal weapon. She never doubted him until now.
Temple has been a vampire for centuries. He and his friends are determined to eliminate the Order of the Silver Palm. He is the last of his friends to be single, his one attempt at taking a mate a complete disaster.
Temple, leader of the Guardians of the Blood Grail, has been captured by Rupert Villiers, leader of their enemy, the Silver Palm. His jailor and Rupert’s protégée, Vivian, is much more than just a beautiful woman. She has not been told who she is, nor of her importance to those who worship Lilith. Temple is afraid that she is the only woman he will ever love, because if her loyalties do not change, she may be the end of not only him, but the Blood Grail.
I may have started this series at the end, but I will be definitely checking out the rest of the series. I have always been a fan of Ms. Smith’s work and this novel is one of her best. She combines a historical romance with the paranormal extremely well. Vivian and Temple are memorable characters, and Vivian’s heritage adds a unique touch to the plot. The setting and the vividly drawn characters are well suited to this story which is full of suspense, action, and some very hot love scenes.
