Jim Blackhawk is the man the strong arm belongs to. He is a Navajo artist who is looking for the perfect landscape to paint.

Navajo Dreams is a story of Jim Blackhawk, who is painting for a one-man show. Dinah Greene is a tourist who happens to be needing a place to stay in the area. She has difficulty finding one so Jim asks her to move into his guest room. She begins to do some little things that make his life easier and to give him more attention to his paintings, like doing laundry and cooking. Soon they start to be attracted to one another, against his mother’s wishes. She creates some obstacles to push them apart. Will she succeed, or will their love be strong enough to over come them?

Ms. Hofman did a fabulous job with the scenery. I can imagine myself there it is so vivid. The secondary characters give depth and add humor to the book. The main characters are so real I feel as though I am living there with them, watching the story instead of reading it. The author’s incredible ability to throw in the obstacles adds a twist making the reader root for Jim and Dinah to be together. The Navajo language and customs give the reader a glance into the Native American ways. Readers who love a great contemporary with Native American themes will be pleased to read this fabulous piece of art.
