Diane “DJ” Marshall is a construction manager, which is a male dominated position which she works hard to prove herself in. When she is given a project to construct a church, she feels her talents could be used in a more worthwhile way and her reception by the benefactor proves to be cool at best.

Paul Cameron anonymously donates his deceased wife’s life insurance money to the local church at Debrett. When he meets the construction manager, he is taken aback when “he” turns out be a “she”. Surprised by this tiny woman in steel-toe boots, he begins to work alongside her, assisting with the Cuban volunteers. Spending more time with Diane starts to lift the dark cloud of depression he had been under for the last year.

When Paul is trapped under a hoist and Diane tries to dig him out bare-handed, it becomes obvious that she cares for the silent giant. During his recovery, she never strays far from his side and his mother-in-law voices her disapproval. Does the whole town feel as she does?

Ms. Deborah Kinnard has written a sweet love story about healing, discovery and faith. Diane is a Christian woman determined to follow a righteous path while her heart is afraid to feel for the silent by steady Paul who prays for an end of his grief. The town is in it self a character, being made up of close-knit Cuban families with old-fashioned ways and beliefs which present Diane and Paul with a special set of obstacles to over come. I would recommend this book to any reader of tender romance.
