Homecoming Season by Susan Wiggs
Miranda is having a difficult time figuring out what to do with her life now that she has recovered from breast cancer. She feels like her family has fallen apart. She wants life how it used to be.
Jacob is not sure what to think about his wife’s clean bill of health. He loves her, but is the sole person responsible for his family. He cannot see that he needs a break from everything. He has blinders on.
Miranda Sweeney has been given a clean bill of health from her breast cancer. Now she finds that her family has drifted apart and wants to get them back together. She does not know how for sure until her friend Sophie offers a cabin to stay in. Miranda only has to convince her family that it is a good idea. Maybe they can all finally learn how to live again.
I was impressed with this story because this family had to start over again. Having had a rough experience myself as a kid, I know firsthand how things do not always work out how you would like. Ms. Wiggs has a heart warming honest story that touched my heart.
The Yellow Ribbon by Sharon Sala
Francis Drummond loves helping out at Just Like Home. Her parents are gone and this is a way she can give back. Charlotte has captured her attention and Francis wishes she could do something for her.
Daniel Scoria is surprised that he will get to retell his family story and possibly even learn something about his grandfather. He just hopes he will not hurt the lady coming to pay her respects. He is also intrigued by her companion Frankie and finds himself having feelings for her.
Francis, aka Frankie, learns about Second Wind Dreams and cannot help but want to help Charlotte pay her respects to her lost love, Daniel. When the wish is granted and both ladies go to Italy. Frankie finally meets Daniel Scoria and finds herself attracted to him, but is not sure that anything will happen.
Ms. Sala writes so wonderfully. I loved this story a lot!
Hanging by a Thread by Emilie Richards
Tracy Wagner had her life planned out. Being an interior decorator kept her busy, but she loved it. Graham was busy as well but it suited their life together. Not having any children had seemed like a wonderful thing to her. She feels the need to help out a young girl named Molly though.
Molly Baker has had a rough life. Being a foster kid is not easy, but her current family, the Hansens, seems to really like her until the father needs to go to Europe for his job. She has no idea where she is going to go until Mrs. Wagner steps up and takes her in. Now she just has to enjoy every day she has.
Tracy is happy to take Molly and her husband Graham likes the idea too. They take time out of their days to spend time with her and enjoy supper around the table. Finding a quilt Molly has touches Tracy. Tracy warns Graham not to get too attached, but is she the one getting attached?
Quilts are comforting especially made by someone who cares. Ms. Richards is an incredible author who I will definitely want to read more of.
All three stories have organizations that help support people whether they are elderly, helping cancer survivors or giving comfort to children who need it. I was blessed by all three stories and am pleased to see that there are such wonderful people who started them all. These are stories that will warm your heart and make you want to do better for others. If I had to pick a favorite it would be Hanging By A Thread since I have quilted as well and the idea behind the organization is truly wonderful!
