Ruby Dixon is a writer as well as a wife and mother of three living amidst the hustle and bustle of New York City. After writing many romance novels, she finally releases her break-out novel which promises to be a best-seller.
Jack Salerno, Ruby’s husband, does what he can to help her with the kids so she can write. Unfortunately he works so many hours and when Ruby is up against a deadline, it causes major tension in the household.
When Jack is offered a transfer to Portland, Oregon, he turns it down. He has always lived in the Big Apple and his family is there. When Ruby’s car is stolen, yet again, she decides that she’s ready for less crime and lots of fresh air. But the simultaneous move to the west coast coupled with Ruby’s increasing fame, causes a rift between her and Jack that leads to heart break. Ruby must do her best to keep her family going while presenting the façade of a carefree single woman for her book tour.
This novel was so much fun to read. I was very impressed with the character of Ruby. Her feelings and reactions to things were very realistic making her a character that so many women could identify with. Ms. Bailey’s writing is eloquent and she breathed life into her characters by making their personalities so diverse. It is even easy to get to know Ruby’s three children. Ruby’s friends were great fun and Jack’s coworkers were mostly quite irritating. Mommies Behaving Badly is a sparkling piece of fiction that any woman will enjoy.
