The Dark Castle Lords
Rating: 3 Cups
Danielle has been in love with Miguel since her cousin Beau’s wedding. He does not believe in love, only brief flings, but she feels that a little time with him is worth more than a lifetime without.
Miguel is a successful restaurateur and has little time for relationships much less love. This suits him fine because he was disappointed by the woman he was supposed to marry. Brief flings suit his lifestyle and philosophy, but Danielle seems different.
Danielle and Miguel share a very passionate relationship, but Danielle knows it will not last forever. She is determined to keep a piece of Miguel with her always, but does not reckon with Miguel’s reaction to her pregnancy.
Fans of Ms. Hofman’s work will enjoy this second story of a trilogy. Many characters from earlier books make an appearance here and it is nice to see what became of them after their stories ended. The author writes an old fashioned type of romance, the characters are very black and white for the most part, the exception being Danielle’s dishonesty in deliberately becoming pregnant. Miguel’s reaction is a little over the top which adds to a very dramatic section of the book. The climax of the drama resolves the conflicts leading to a satisfactory ending.
