Medical Romance

Eve Spicer is a very qualified young doctor, unemployed because an old friend of her father’s sexually harassed her. She really needs this temporary job, even though she is very attracted to her boss, Hugh Douglas. She promised her father that she would become a success, and she cannot let anything get in her way.

Hugh, who is a widower and father of two, never expected to fall in love again, especially so fast. His first wife was his childhood sweetheart and they became parents for the first time at eighteen. Eve makes him want to try again.

A young doctor eager to start up the ladder of success unexpectedly falls for her immediate supervisor. A promise she made stands in the way of their happiness, but nature has a way of righting everything.

This is a quick and easy to read romance. Eve and Hugh are likeable and attractive characters who really deserve to be happy. I was taken back a little by the behavior of Hugh’s son; hanging out at a pub until all hours on a school night is a little unusual for a seventeen year old in a Harlequin, but I guess drinking ages vary. The other doctors and staff in the hospital are very well drawn, as are Hugh’s children. This is a very entertaining book.
