Kendra Tamale has decided she needs a change, so she rents a flat in London. She is taking a new job with an old friend. What she does not expect is to be catapulted into the life of her landlord and his two young children.
Kyle Gadsborough is Kendra’s new landlord. He is a young father going through a divorce and trying to take care of six-year old twins, only he finds it is harder than he thought. He does not know how to reach the twins until Kendra comes along and works her magic with them.
Both Kendra and Kyle seem to be hiding from some deep issues they have. As the turmoil of Kendra’s life unfolds, Kyle’s crumbles even more when his ex takes the children and no one can find them. They both need to work on their issues and people involved in them before they can begin to each heal inside and help the twins through a troublesome time in their lives.
Marshmallows for Breakfast is a very emotional read. Each character has a pivotal role in this story. They all have issues they need to see and fix before they can move forward. The past that no one wants to see has to return. This book is a page-turner with both humor and laughter, and sorrow and pain. Ms. Koomson has given the reader much to digest in Marshmallows for Breakfast. This is a book you will want to buy for yourself and also for a friend.
