Tessa MacFindlaech was sent away from her mountain home by her mother, in hopes that she would find a husband. Tessa was one of six daughters and it could be said she was the least favorite of the bunch. She was more a tom boy then a proper lady, and this fact irritated her mother.

Jeffrey Brixton was the youngest son of a noble family and had no prospects of ever inheriting the family title. So he became a soldier to make his way in life, and sold his services to whom ever could afford him. While out on a mission he meets Tessa, and because of an unfortunate turn of events ends up kidnapping her to keep her out of the way. To his frustration he finds himself attracted to her.

After Jeffery kidnaps Tessa and dumps her off at his family estate, his life becomes intertwined with hers in a serious of misadventures. It seems that every time Tessa's path crosses Jeffrey's he is either trying to get himself or her out of trouble. Tessa struggles with her feelings for Jeffrey because it seems that he is always betraying her or kidnapping her. After a year of their lives crossing paths it is hard for either of them to ignore the feelings growing between them, but they are both struggling with trust issues.

Macbeth's Niece is a story of how mistrust and bad luck can bring two unsuspecting people together. The character of Tessa is one that you find yourself liking from the beginning. She is a well written character that you hold your breath for every time she manages to get herself into trouble. It is a nice story over all, but a little slow in the middle. If you like second chances in love this is the story for you.
