LONG-LOST SON: BRAND-NEW FAMILY

Janey Stafford is grieving the loss of her sister Alice. Alice was a bit of a free spirit who ran away from her marriage and took her son to a commune. Janey was always the sensible sister, not the beautiful favored one. Now she has to find out if her nephew’s father wants him and why the child will not talk.
Luke Bresciano has buried himself in work since his ex-wife disappeared with his son. Crocodile Creek is the perfect place for him. Now his ex’s sister is in his hospital and he wants to know why, and if she has any information about his son.
Cyclone Willie has made a mess of the coast and the employees of the medical facility are working all out to help the people of the area. An unexpected casualty is Dr. Janey Stafford, the ex-sister-in-law of Dr. Luke Brescia and her nephew, the son Luke has not seen in five years.
This romance has a lot going for it; an exotic location, a natural disaster, and a long-lost child who refuses to speak. The author weaves all of this into a plot that keeps the reader interested and does not fall into the soap opera category. Luke and Janey are sympathetic characters that totally misunderstood each other in their shared past as medical students. Luke’s stormy marriage to the volatile Alice did not help matters. I enjoyed reading about how they get to know each other again and about Rowdy, the silent child. Their picnic trip adds a little drama that brings things to a head, leading to a very satisfying ending to this quick reading story.
