Paranormal Erotic Romance
Rating: 3 Cups
Alexa is a werewolf without a pack. She had to leave her previous pack when she refused to marry another wolf. Her human lover could not accept her as she was, so she had no choice but to leave.
Jesse is a cop assigned to the local gang task force. He has no business getting into a relationship, but Alexa is tough to resist and he really does not want to.
A rural community riddle with gang activity is also the home for a pack of displaced wolves. Alexa is a packless wolf with no intentions of ever getting involved with another human, but she is increasingly drawn to her neighbor. His ever more dangerous job is a problem as her protective instincts grow stronger.
This is a very intense story. Both the romance and gang situation are very engrossing. The author has created two memorable characters and some love scenes that will have you turning up the a/c. At times Jesse is more wolf-like than Alexa. The subplot of the homeless wolf pack and their assistance is an interesting addition. The scenes with the gang violence are pretty graphic and exciting, though I did wonder why police officers, not undercover, would bother driving a beat-up car and be in plainclothes. Even detectives would be driving something a little more stealthy and reliable. Other than that, I really enjoyed this story.
